I was born Thengel Von Lanner in Austria, the year 1163. I was born to Sir Hammet Von Lanner who was a knight who served with Frederick I, who made Austria a Duchy in 1156. My mother was a Druid, Lady Eileyne. My early childhood was full of strict discipline. I was taught the honor of being a gentleman and knowing the knightly ways even though I was not a knight myself. My mother taught me a little magic of the druids and the beliefs they followed… When I was 12, in the year 1175 It was time to become an apprentice to a class. It was a hard decision and I finally chose the path of the Druid over the squire to become a knight. For this choice, I was practically disowned by my father. For not choosing to follow in his footsteps, I had betrayed him in his mind. For the next 2 years I had learned more and more spells about the earth and how to balance my magic for good. I barely spoke to my Father, we mainly tried to avoid each other. If I had known the outcome I would have tried to make up with him sooner… Shortly after my 14th birthday, my father was sent to stop an uprising in a small village and was killed. My mother couldn’t support me, and was faced with having to marry someone else… She could not do this, so she took her own life.

After both my parents were dead, I was sent to stay with a Guild of Druids. They taught me more about magic but my heart wasn’t into it anymore… Many years passed with me learning magic and honing my sword techniques. Soon after my 18th birthday our Village was raided, all I can remember about that horrific night is seeing most of my people killed and suffering a tremendous blow to my torso where soon after I blacked out.

When I had awaken I found myself in a strange new land. The pain was gone from my body so I stood and began to walk, after several miles I found a small group. Later I found that this small group was a Shire, they were the Shire of Whispering Winds. They welcomed me into the group and soon after I was honored with the privilege of being the groups' Sheriff. I have thought a lot about my family and even though my father is gone I want to make him proud of me. I am trying to become knighted so that way I can be a druid and a knight. I am looking forward to many more long seasons with the wonderful people of Whispering Winds.
