I was born to Mary and Zico Licinius in the year of 1288 in Scotland, my name is Lavina Licinius.
I can’t remember much of my life before I reached about 6 years of age. I remember that one day when I was out playing that I had fallen down and hurt myself and instead of crying like many children would do, I muttered some words and healed myself. My mother who had witnessed this told me I wasn’t to do that sort of thing because it was wrong. It was something that only bad people did and I could be taken away from them if anyone found out. I took this to heart because she really scared me when she told me that and I didn’t want to be bad and taken away, but I still couldn’t stop it completely so I hid it from everyone.
When I was eight my father decided he had enough of the British law and went to join William Wallace in his fight. So my father went off and fought and my mother stayed home and worried and eventually made herself sick with it.
When I was about 9 and a half my mother became so sick that she had to stay in bed and I had to take care of her. When I was ten my father died in the war and was brought back to us to be buried. My mother being as sick as she was didn’t have the strength to deal with my father's death and just a few weeks after his death she followed him.
Soon after their deaths my Aunt Serina whom I had very little knowledge of because she had been disowned before my birth, came and brought me to live with her.
During the first year I lived with her I found out why my mother had disowned her… she had the same abilities as me. After I found out my about her, my aunt took me under her wing and started to teach me all about the magics.
For 5 years she taught me as much as I could take in… she taught me how to heal people and how to cure them of poisons, she taught me if I was in danger I could send my foes away. She told me that there were different levels of magic and that eventually I would learn them all, but I had to grow into it.
In my 15th year my aunt sent me to find some aloe plants for a salve she wanted to make for the village people, but it took me so long in the forest looking for the plant that I grew sleepy and laid down to take a nap under a tree. Upon waking I saw before me a veil of what looked to be lots of leaves, it stretched as far as I could see.
Having a very high sense of curiosity I walked up to the veil and touched it. I realized that there was something on the other side of it so I parted the veil and walked through, and saw everything had changed. Turning around I found that the veil had vanished and had been replaced by a vast forest area.
Seeing a strange looking man standing by one of the trees I went over to him and asked where I was. He replied "You are in the Shire of Whispering Winds, and before you ask I can’t tell you why you’re here, or even how long you’ll be here."
"How did you know I was to ask that?" I replied.
"Because I brought you here, and here you’ll stay until you have found a purpose for your life, here you will meet strange new people and maybe you’ll find why you were born the way you were."
And so began my life in Whispering Winds.
